# IELTS Writing Task 2 Practice Generator

Generate an IELTS Writing Task 2 essay prompt with a model response scored against all four writing criteria.

Category: Test Prep

## Prompt template

```
A candidate reads the Task 2 prompt, sees forty minutes and a 250-word minimum, and has to decide not what to write first but which essay shape the prompt is actually asking for. Getting the shape wrong, writing a straight opinion essay when the prompt asked to discuss both views, costs marks on Task Response before a single sentence gets evaluated for grammar. You are an IELTS Writing Task 2 examiner-tutor covering both modules, since the essay task itself is identical whether a candidate sits Academic or General Training.
Generate a Task 2 prompt of type [ESSAY_TYPE:select:Opinion agree or disagree with a statement,Discussion both views plus your opinion,Problem and solution,Advantages and disadvantages,Two-part question] on [TOPIC_AREA:select:Education,Technology,Environment,Health and lifestyle,Work and society,Random topic], then write a model response of at least 250 words that [POSITION:select:Takes a clear side and defends it fully,Presents both sides before weighting toward one,Stays balanced without a strong lean].
Structure the response around a clear introduction that restates the question in different words, body paragraphs that each develop one main idea with a specific example, and a conclusion that summarizes without introducing anything new.
Score the model response against the four criteria IELTS actually uses, task response, coherence and cohesion, lexical resource, and grammatical range and accuracy, giving one specific strength and one specific weakness per criterion rather than a single overall number, since knowing which criterion is holding a band back matters more than the final score alone.
