AI Actions
Run AI actions on a selection in the Dock Editor. Improve, rewrite, expand, shorten, summarize, and custom prompts, all reviewed in the AI panel before they enter the document.
AI in Dock helps without taking over. You run an action on a passage you select, read the result in a panel, and decide whether to keep it. Nothing the AI writes enters your document until you accept it, so the voice and the authorship stay yours.
Select the text you want to work on and open the AI panel. Choose an action, and the AI returns a suggestion based on your selection. The common actions are:
- Improve the writing while keeping the meaning
- Rewrite the passage in a different phrasing
- Expand a short passage into something fuller
- Shorten a long passage to its essentials
- Summarize a section down to its key points
Beyond the preset actions, you can give the AI your own instruction. Select a passage, type what you want done with it, and the AI works to your prompt. Use this for anything the presets do not cover, such as adjusting tone, reframing for a different reader, or tightening a specific argument.
Results appear in the AI panel on the right, next to your document rather than on top of it. You read the suggestion in full before it touches the page. From there you accept it into the document or discard it and try again. Because the suggestion is staged in the panel, you are never surprised by a change you did not approve.
The point of the editor is writing you can defend: a thesis, a report, a client deliverable. That only works if every sentence is one you chose. AI actions are suggestions you review, not edits that happen to your document. You keep authorship over every line.
