How the Dock Editor handles your documents and data. Where documents are stored, how data is protected, the AI data-usage policy, and your rights to export and delete.
Your writing is yours. This guide explains where your documents live, how they are protected, what happens to your text when you use AI, and how to get your data out or remove it.
Documents are stored in your account on Dock’s servers, so they are available wherever you sign in and they sync as you write. The editor saves automatically, and your work persists between sessions without a manual save.
Access to your documents is tied to your account. Connections to reference managers such as Zotero and Mendeley are stored as protected credentials rather than in the open, so a linked library does not expose your account elsewhere.
When you use an AI feature, the relevant text is sent to the AI model to produce the suggestion, and the result comes back for you to review. Your content is not used to train AI models. AI assistance is there to help you write your document, not to feed a training set.
Dock supports the data rights that GDPR requires, including the ability to access your data and to have it deleted. The controls below are how you exercise those rights.
You are never locked in. Any document can be exported to Markdown, HTML, plain text, or Word, and copied to the clipboard, so you can take your writing out of Dock at any time. See Import and Export for the full set of formats.
You can delete individual documents from the editor, and you can delete your account from your account settings to remove your data. Deleting a document removes it from your workspace; deleting your account removes your data per Dock’s data policy.
