The question behind every AI writing tool is the same: what happens to my words? Here is Dock's answer, in full. Your writing is yours, it is not used to train AI models, and you can take it out or delete it whenever you choose. The sections below spell out each part.
Documents live in your account on Dock's servers, available wherever you sign in and syncing as you write. The editor saves automatically, so your work persists between sessions without a manual save.
Access to your documents is tied to your account. Connections to reference managers such as Zotero and Mendeley are stored as protected credentials, never in the open, so a linked library does not expose your account elsewhere.
When you use an AI feature, the relevant text goes to the AI model to produce the suggestion, and the result comes back for you to review. Your content is not used to train AI models. The AI works for your document; your document does not work for the AI. That is the honest answer to "does AI keep my writing private" as far as Dock controls it: assistance happens on your terms, and your prose never becomes someone else's training data through us.
Dock supports the data rights GDPR requires, including access to your data and deletion of it. The controls below are how you exercise both.
You are never locked in. Any document exports to Markdown, HTML, plain text, or Word, or copies to the clipboard, so your writing can leave Dock the moment you want it to. See Import and Export for the full format list.
Delete individual documents from the editor, or delete your account from account settings to remove your data entirely. A deleted document leaves your workspace; a deleted account removes your data per Dock's data policy.
