System Requirements
What you need to run the Dock Editor. Supported browsers, a working connection, and notes on mobile and offline use.
The Dock Editor runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to install. This guide lists the browsers it supports and the basics it needs to work well.
Dock is built for modern, up-to-date browsers:
- Chrome
- Edge
- Brave
- Arc
- Safari
Any current Chromium-based browser works, since Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Arc all share that engine. Keep your browser updated, as an outdated version is the most common cause of layout and feature problems. See Troubleshooting if something does not render correctly.
The editor needs a working internet connection to load your documents and to save as you write. The footer confirms when the document has saved. A dropped connection pauses sync until it is back, so your changes resume saving once you are online again.
The editor works best on a desktop or laptop, where the writing surface, the toolbar, and the side panels have the room they need. You can open a document on a mobile browser to read or make a quick edit, but the full writing experience, with citations, voice, and the panels, is designed for a larger screen.
Dock is an online editor: it loads your documents and saves your changes through a connection to its servers. It is not a fully offline application, so plan to write while connected. If you need your writing available in another tool offline, export it first; see Import and Export.
