Using the Modal Editor
Write and edit in the Dock modal editor, run AI actions like Enhance and Fix Grammar, pull in prompts from your library, and save your work three ways.
The modal editor is the heart of the extension. It opens in a panel over the page when you click the float button or press the keyboard shortcut, and it gives you a full writing surface with AI actions, your prompt library, and three ways to save.
The editor is a rich text surface. When you open it from a text box, it loads whatever you have already typed so you never start from a blank page. Type, edit, and format your text, then run an action or insert it back into the page.
If you close the editor with unsaved text, Dock keeps a draft. The next time you open the editor on that site your work is still there. You will see a Draft saved indicator while you write. Drafts are stored locally in your browser and clear once you insert or save, unless you pin the draft to keep it. Nothing is sent anywhere until you run an AI action or save.
Enhance is the headline action. On an AI site it rewrites your text into a sharper prompt tuned for that platform; on a writing surface it improves clarity and flow.
Behind it sit fourteen built-in actions, grouped the way you reach for them:

Your own saved prompts appear alongside the built-in set, so an instruction you use often is one click away. You can also write a custom instruction and Dock will follow it.
AI edits arrive as tracked changes: the rewrite is marked up against your original, and you accept or reject it before it becomes your text. Keep what works, run another action on top of it, or reject the edit and try something else.
When Dock detects an AI platform, it shows prompt suggestions tuned for that site along the top of the editor. Click one to drop a proven prompt into your text, then fill in the details. You can also open your full prompt library from inside the editor to browse and search everything you have saved, plus the public library.
The editor gives you three ways to keep what you have written.
The primary button inserts your text straight into the box you started from. On a detected platform the button reads Insert into that platform, so you always know where the text is going. This is the fastest path: write, enhance, insert.
Click Save to open the Save to Dock dialog. A Save as toggle lets you choose:
- Prompt keeps the text in your prompt library, ready to reuse on any site.
- Document saves it to your documents in the Dock Editor, where you can keep working on it later.
You can file either one into a folder. Saved prompts and documents sync to your AgentDock account, so they are available in the side panel, in the full Dock Editor, and anywhere you sign in.
If you are not ready to insert or save, just close the editor. Your draft is kept automatically. To hold on to a draft even after you insert it, pin it with the draft control in the editor footer.
