Version History
See past versions of a document, recover a previous draft in one move, and read whether each change came from you or from an AI agent.
Every writer has deleted the wrong paragraph with confidence. Version history is the undo that survives closing the tab: earlier states of your document stay on a timeline, so you can see how the draft read at any point, compare it with now, and bring a previous version back. In a document that an AI also edits, it is not a convenience, it is the record.
As you work, Dock captures snapshots, the document as it stood at a moment in time. Together they form a timeline of how the draft evolved, which means a major rewrite is a step on a path, never a cliff.
Open version history and browse the snapshots. Select one to read the document as it was, useful for the section you cut and now miss, or for holding a rewritten passage against the version it replaced before deciding which one earned the spot.
Found the draft you want back? Restore it, and the document returns to that state. The restore is itself a step in the timeline, so going back never erases the versions in between. Change your mind about changing your mind, and forward is still there.
Every version records where its changes came from. A snapshot tells you whether the writing at that point was yours or was produced by an AI agent working through the API, which is the question that matters most when both of you have touched the draft, and one most version histories cannot answer. Track Changes reviews individual edits before they commit. Version history holds the document as a whole over time. Approve edits with one, step back to an earlier full draft with the other.
